Does goodness still exist? Does pure altruism still exist, the pure essence of helping others? Take this thought and associate it with art.
This is Giuseppe De Rossi.
An artist born in Velletri, he began to express his talents in 1959, when he entered the Latium city's art institute and met the masters who would teach him the techniques with which he would go on to express his artistic talents.
After many years in which he strove to make the name of Velletri stand out through his works, he moved to Madagascar, where he found his own dimension, his peace and his current wife with whom he also has a little girl.
Moving from the man to the artist, when one comes across a work by De Rossi, one cannot fail to notice the strong impact of the colours, which create breathtaking abstract movements.
In an interview, the artist tells us "We usually start with natural colours, usually mineral powder. Sometimes I use vegetable colours instead, such as elderflower. The canvas looks very silky, smooth, unlike minerals that tend to release granules on the work." Painting is not his priority in life "If I don't want to for a long time I can safely not do it. But equally I can find in any person I meet, the motive and inspiration for my next work. The emotions, the perceptions I have of who I meet or who strikes me, are what I then go on to imprint on canvas. my interiority'.. It is no coincidence that in the titles of his works we find references to people's names and the artist makes it clear "Yes, it is not always nature, the beautiful scenery that Madagascar offers me every day that gives me inspiration. If you pay attention to the names on my works, you will notice that most of the time they lead back to names. Special people that I got to know in this land that I have come to love and that I am proud to help often. Through my works, I have sought a way to communicate with others. In my country, in Italy, but also in the various countries I have been to, I have used art as a universal language, a language that has no limits. For me, there is no ulterior motive in my art, so much so that often when I have noticed a particular interest in one of my paintings, I have not hesitated to give it away, and it makes me happy to do so. I feel like I am in marriage with the world.
We ask De Rossi what his favourite work is and we are not surprised when he says "I could never choose one, my works are like children. There is no preference, they are all the same, and in the same way I love them and am proud of them."
A special man and artist. In the land that has welcomed him, where he lives, which he loves as if it were his own by birth, De Rossi is used to helping people with frequent donations, something he does not want to take credit for.because in life you just do certain things, not to do it would be selfish.
