A few kilometres from Rome, in absolute tranquillity amidst olive groves and vineyards, history and archaeology, where time is still slow, lies Lanuvio. A small and picturesque municipality, heir to an ancient history with Greco-Roman roots that with its temple of Suspended Juno suggests mythical suggestions, going as far back as Enea. Lanuvio is dotted with archaeological finds and ancient remains despite the devastation it suffered during World War II, when, due to the importance of its strategic location, it was bombed and subjected to air raids by the allied armies that landed at Anzio. Lanuvio soon rose from the ashes and to this day is one of the most enchanting places in the Roman Castles.
Thanks to research conducted in the year 2000 in the sanctuary of Juno Sospita by the Director of the Lanuvio Civic Museum, the oldest Latin alphabetarium was found, which seems to date back to around the end of the 6th century BC. An exceptional find given the actual rarity of the use of alphabetaria in Latin.
Lanuvio is a veritable open-air museum, or even better, a diffuse museum. Starting from the elegant Fountain of the Cliffs by Carlo Fontana (a pupil of Bernini), to the Medieval Castle surrounded by walls with its imposing towers, to the marvellous Medieval Village where Palazzo Colonna is located, whose façade has incorporated a Roman marble sarcophagus from the 3rd century AD, to the remains of the Roman Theatre and the Acropoli Lanuvina which is inside the Villa Sforza Cesarini and shows a section of ancient portico in an excellent state of conservation, it is all a succession of emotions and extraordinary atmospheres.
Wonderful terraces open up towards the sea, evocative and contemplative corners help to find inner peace, the silence of the soul, while the senses are even more gratified by excellent wines and a gastronomy that is strictly 'Homemade', the authenticity and genuineness of ancient flavours. A tradition that is a true luxury.

Music Festival
The Music Festival has been a tradition in Lanuvio for a few years now.
It takes place in June.
The event is curated by the 'Carpe Diem' Cultural Association, and the guaranteed appointments are those with the street artists who always intervene in large numbers (in some editions over 100 bands) to present their repertoire in all possible rhythms: rock, blues, jazz, world music, pop, punk, country, grunge, ska, ethno, ..........
A nice initiative is the tent city, which is always a great success among young people not only for the moment of aggregation, but also for not having to face the journey home after a crazy long night of music.
Among the Bigs who brought prestige to the event was rock star Vittorio Nocenzi (Banco), who kicked off one of the editions by meeting young musicians with the Officina dell'Arte project 'La Musica e L'immagine'.
But the music played on those evenings would not have the same charm if there were not the medieval village of Lanuvio animated by the many 'Piazzette in Musica' lit by torches that provide moments of intense charm.
As a corollary to the musical events, there will be various performances by street artists in the streets of the old town.
