Romangia... The land and its fruits

Wine has been made in Romangia for over 3000 years. Confirmation comes from the many archaeological finds discovered in the area and in particular at the Domus de Janas of Abelazu. Here, a terracotta Wine Vase was found (dating back to the Eneolithic period, 2,500 B.C.). 2000 years before the Roman, Etruscan, Phoenician and Greek civilisations, it was already customary to produce the 'nectar of the gods' there.
Romangia is that part of north-western Sardinia that includes the municipalities of Sorso and Sennori, bordering on the territory of the capital Sassari. In the area of Mount Cao, between the two aforementioned towns, decanters dating back to around 900 B.C. have been found, which are now preserved in the A. Sanna Museum in Sassari. Some scholars in the area claim that in Roman times, the most prestigious wine-growing area in Sardinia was, apart from Cagliari, precisely Romangia.
