When it comes to wine, technical expertise and philosophy come into play, the aspects of wine are endless. Not only must a distinction be made between good or not good, more or less renowned wines, but also between conventional wines (i.e. produced with the aid of chemistry) and natural wines (i.e. wines produced without the use of synthetic chemistry). In our search for the most authentic excellence, we have met a passionate winemaker, a son of art, the last heir to a dynasty that has been producing wine for twenty generations out of love and takes us on an exclusive journey through the tastes, aftertastes and aromas of truly interesting, unique, non-cloneable wines.

We are talking about Matteo Ceracchiowner of Piana dei Castelli of Velletri (south of Rome), the extension of his vineyards, together with the vineyards of Nicoletta with whom he shares his life so much that they are one body and soul, touches no less than eleven municipalities, going from the sea up to the Cesanese mountains at an altitude of 800 metres, practising de facto heroic agriculture. Matteo is an unusual winemaker, his wine is made in the vineyard by interweaving tradition and innovation, courage and sensitivity, generously crossing the boundaries of banal 'normality'. The basis for achieving a decidedly superior quality is the composition of the soil, the high level of technical expertise, the strategies and tools designed in-house for working the land so as to create underground water reserves, the extreme care of the vines such that each plant is worked 45 times a year respecting the cycles, rhythms and force of nature, as well as the complicit microclimate. All this is an indispensable combination to optimise the connection between soil and plant, to enhance the identity of the terroir.

This is why Matteo told us that his wine is a journey. In fact, it happens more and more often that tasting even the best bottles, one finds a sort of homologation of flavours, a lack of identity.
